SUPERVISOR'S DAUGHTER USES SAME UNLICENSED CONTRACTOR
Credible sources have informed RIVERHEADNEWS.COM that Supervisor Cardinal’s daughter and son-in-law used the same unlicensed contractor who built the Supervisors cottage, to finish their basement. Along with finishing the interior, a bathroom was installed and electric. No permits or inspections were performed. Lars Johnson, the supervisors son-in-law is also a lawyer and works out of the Cardinale and Cardinale law office.

Zoning Changed affects Cardinale Cottage
If you look at the attached two pages of buillding code, you will notice a big difference in (E) on the original code on the first page and (E) on the second page. The new code was added in April 2006.
About a year ago, Supervisor Phil Cardinale was accused by Mark Houraney of using unlicensed contractors to build a personal cottage on his property, without permits. Mr. Cardinale who also overseas Building Code Enforcement, denied all allegations by Mr. Houraney. Local newspapers after questioning Mr. Cardinale reported that Mr. Cardinale did nothing wrong. Mr. Houraney also filed an ethics complaint with the Town Ethics Commission regarding this issue. After several attempts over the past year, to get a response, Mr. Houraney was ignored. Mr. Houraney questioned Supervisor Cardinale on WRIV about the illegal building. Supervisor Cardinale called Mr. Houraney a liar and told Mr. Houraney to stick a sock in it. Mr. Houraney reported this and other questionable actions by Supervisor Cardinale to District Attorney Spota’s office last August. At his meeting with an assistant District Attorney, Mr. Houraney was told that it was just "small town politics". In his own opinion, Mr. Houraney felt they did not want to investigate Supervisor Cardinale, since he worked for the District Attorney's office for 7 years. As you can see by the pictures of the cottage, there was plumbing and electrical being installed even though there were no permits or inspections. Supervisor Cardinale stated on WRIV that no electrical was ever done and he did not need permits. Everyday Code Enforcement issues tickets to taxpayers in the Town for not following Town Building Code or Statues. Taxpayers have to appear in Court and pay fines. As not only a lawyer, but also the Town Supervisor, Police Commissioner and head of Code Enforcement, is Supervisor Cardinale above the LAW?? This past June Mr. Houraney asked Mr.Cardinale on WRIV, if he was terminated from the District Attorneys office after working there for approx 7 years? According to Mr. Houraney, Mr. Cardinale danced around the question never answering it. Is he lying about that also??
